Melco Crown Entertainment has opened Macau’s latest entertainment complex, the City of Dreams, on the Cotai Strip. Built at a cost of $2.1 billion, the complex houses an array of luxury accomodation, regional and international dining venues, gaming, shopping and entertainment facilities.
Accomodation
3 world-class hotels provide more than 1,400 rooms at the complex. The Crown Towers and Hard Rock Hotel have begun welcoming guests, while the Grand Hyatt Macau is scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2009.
Offering comfort and style, the Crown Towers’ 286 exquisitely appointed guestrooms and suites featuring panoramic views of Cotai, designer interiors and amenities including king-sized beds with 600-thread count linen, spacious bathrooms, 42-inch LCD televisions and multifunction iPod docking stations.
At the Hard Rock Hotel, the contemporary-styled rooms and suites feature the brand’s signature Sleep like a Rock beds, bathrooms with Rock Spa amenities, home theatre system, personal minibar and memorabilia from international rock stars.
Scheduled to open later this year, the Grand Hyatt Macau will have 800 guestrooms and suites in its 2 towers, catering to business and leisure guests who can expect the same standards and quality found in Hyatt hotels around the world.
Dining
A selection of signature restaurants, casual dining venues and bars/lounges is located throughout the resort, catering to the palates of diners. Horizons, located in the Crown Towers hotel, serves a blend of Western cuisine and Asian flair expressed in the restaurant’s extensive a la carte menu, combined with a bright and modern decor. At the elegant Lung Hin, helmed by Michelin-star Chef Tam Kwok Fung, offers oriental fine dining while the culinary team at Treasure Palace restaurant serves authentic Cantonese cuisine from fresh seafood to exquisitely prepared dim sum.
At Edo Japanese Restaurant, diners can enjoy a selection of authentic Japanese food prepared with ingredients flown in from Japan, while the Food Colosseum is inspired by a pavillion concept with each menu item prepared fresh in front of diners. City of Dreams also boasts an array of noodle bars and eateries, ranging from Ji Xiang, Ru Yi and Yo! Noodles serving popular Asian favorites, to the Golden Pavillion restaurant offering authentic Chinese noodles, roast meats and dim sum.
At the complex’s 5 bars and lounges, guests can relax over drinks, accompanied by music and entertainment from local and international acts. Open 24 hours every day, City Bar features music from guest DJs and performers, while Flame Bar at the Hard Rock Hotel serves delicious snacks, beers and cocktails. For a more relaxed experience, LAN and R Bar offer a location to catch up with friends or evening cocktails with business associates, while Wave Pool Bar & Grill serves cocktails and barbecue on weekends and public holidays.
Entertainment and Shopping
City of Dreams offers a wide range of music venues, multimedia attractions and shows to visitors. The Bubble, a dome-shaped theatre hosts the Dragon’s Treasure show, a 10-minute tale of the dragon pearl and its magical prowess. Commencing in early 2010, Dragone Entertainment will stage a permanent, water-themed show, housed in a 2,000-seat theatre incorporating its own pool.
For shopping enthusiasts, The Boulevard’s expansive retail space features high-end fashion labels, premium beauty brands, as well as jewellery and timepiece boutiques such as Cartier, Coach, Hugo Boss, IWC, Salvatore Ferragamo and Tag Heuer. The Boulevard also provides a personalised shopping service for the ultimate shopping indulgence.
City of Dreams is Melco Crown Entertainment’s second property in Macau, after the recently rebranded Altira Macau, and its first integrated entertainment complex in the city.
