Rail Depot Becomes Dallas’ Latest Aloft
Starwood Hotels and Resorts has opened its latest Aloft property in Dallas. The Aloft Downtown Dallas is the brand’s first adaptive re-use project and is housed in a historic 8-storey former railroad depot built in 1924. Located at 1033 Young Street, the hotel is near City Hall and the Dallas Convention Center, with easy access to the American Airlines Center, Arts District and major corporate offices.
The transformation of the train depot into the Aloft Dallas Downtown was completed over a 3-year period under the direction of One Group Design LP. The sleek, new hotel blends Aloft’s signature urban-influenced design with the building’s distinct structural attributes, retaining its high ceiling, structural pillars, large windows and original buff bricks.
Each of the 193 rooms and suites sports loft-inspired design. Standard room amenities include a signature platform bed with 300-threadcount bedding, spacious bathroom accompanied with Tried and Blue by Bliss spa amenities, 42-inch LCD television, magazines and complementary high-speed internet access. The rooms also offer guests a minibar, complimentary bottled water, coffee and tea. For greater space, guests can choose to stay in the hotel’s Savvy Suites ranging from 41 to 72 square meters and featuring an additional sofabed.
Ideally suited to travellers on-the-go, re:fuel by Aloft offers guests a 1-stop area 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for sweet, savoury and healthy treats. At the w xyz bar, guests can meet and mingle with each other over a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, ranging from cocktails to pinot noirs and paired with a snack menu and mood music.
Aloft Dallas Downtown provides a range of recreational and business facilities. The splash outdoor swimming pool and re:charge gym are ideal for a quick workout, while the re:mix lounge lets guests relax over a game of pool or catch the game on the 4-panel LCD television screening wall. The complimentary hotel-wide internet access lets business travellers catch up with work and the hotel can accomodate meeting groups at its 11 convention spaces, with the largest offering 478 square meters of ballroom space.
