Celebrity Cruises To Soft-Launch Celebrity Equinox In Norwegian Fjords

Celebrity Cruises has announced that its latest newbuild, Celebrity Equinox, will offer a soft launch prior to its maiden voyage on 8 August 2009. The 122,500 GRT vessel, sister ship to the Celebrity Solstice, will now offer a 8-night roundtrip cruise through the Norwegian fjords from Southampton.

The Miami-based cruise line paired the news with a special offer to guests booked on the maiden voyage, inviting them to combine their 10-night “Best of Europe” cruise with the additional cruise for a 18-night sailing on Celebrity Equinox. Guests joining both voyages will receive an onboard credit of USD200 per stateroom or USD300 per suite.

The 8-night cruise through the fjords will call at the Norwegian ports of Stavanger, Flam, Geiranger and Oslo. The 10-night maiden voyage will take passengers to Paris/Normandy (Le Havre), Cherboug in France, Vigo, Cartagena and Barcelona in Spain, Lisbon, Portugal, Gibraltar, UK and end in Rome (Civitavecchia).

Guests onboard the Celebrity Equinox will experience the series of world-class facilities that debuted with its sister ship Celebrity Solstice. These include a half-acre Lawn Club with real glass, live glassblowing demonstrations and studio developed in conjunction with The Corning Museum of Glass, unrivaled dining venues offering exquisite cuisine and design, together with a whole range of entertainment options. The 2,850-passenger ship offers several categories of accomodation in spacious staterooms and suites, including the luxurious spa-inspired AquaClass staterooms.

Celebrity Cruises offers cruises in Alaska, California/New England, Hawaii and the Pacific Coast in North America, Caribbean Sea, Panama Canal, Galapagos Islands and South America, Europe and Australia/New Zealand. The cruise line’s award-winning fleet will be joined by Celebrity Equinox this year, Celebrity Eclipse in 2010 and 2 other Solstice-class vessels by 2012.
