Swire Hotels Opens The Upper House In Hong Kong

Swire Hotels have added a new property to its budding portfolio. The Upper House has opened in Hong Kong’s Pacific Place complex, occupying the 38th to 48th floors of a tower block and is the group’s first hotel in Hong Kong.

Each of the 117 studio rooms, suites and penthouses offer scenic harbour or island views and are furnished with a king-size bed, spacious bathroom with rain shower and limestone-clad free-standing bathtub, 42-inch LCD television paired with a surround sound system, iPod touch with preloaded content, audio-video connectivity and high-speed internet access. Guests also enjoy complimentary snacks and refreshments, a dual temperature wine fridge, espresso machine and selection of teas. The suites and penthouses provide guests a separate living area and bespoke furniture, giving the comforts of an understated residence.

The hotel’s restaurant, Cafe Gray Deluxe, is located on level 49 and accessed by a spectacular skybridge over a 40-meter high atrium. New York-based Chef Gray Kuntz serves cuisine that departs from traditional fine dining, featuring accents of local organic produce. In addition to picturesque views of Hong Kong, guests are entertained by a 14-meter long open kitchen and an equally long bar. Guests seeking greater privacy can dine in an exclusive dining room that accomodates 12 guests and offers views of Victoria Harbour.

Recreation is provided by a fully-equipped gymnasium, while The Lawn on level 6 of the complex features umbrella-clad tables, beanbags and a grass lawn for guests to eat, drink and relax. On level 49, the Sky Lounge is ideal for some quiet time or catching up with friends amidst its central fireplace, high ceiling and soft hues of green and blue.

The Upper House joins Swire Hotels’ other property, The Opposite House in Beijing. A collection of small, intriguing urban hotels, Swire Hotels is slated to further expand its portfolio with new hotels planned to open in Hong Kong and Guangzhou.
