Celebrity Cruises To Refit Millennium Class Ships With Solstice Class Features

Celebrity Cruises has announced that it will incorporate elements of its new Solstice Class ships to its Millennium Class vessels as part of the revitalization of its fleet. The 91,000-GRT Celebrity Constellation will be the first to receive the new upgrades during its scheduled drydock in April 2010.

Amongst the features to be introduced on the 4 vessels are enhancements to its onboard accomodation and dining. Each stateroom will be restyled with new bedding, upholstery, LCD televisions and carpeting, while the suites will also receive brand new furnishings and amenities on par with Europe’s modern hotels. The popular Tuscan Grille, offering world-class cuisine and a fusion of California’s Napa Valley with the classic Italian steakhouse, as well as the popular creperie Bistro on Five, Cafe al Bacio and Gelateria will also debut outside the Solstice Class. Celebrity will also have an ice-topped Martini Bar paired with Crush, where a selection of chilled, top-tier vodkas are presented on an ice-filled table and an Enomatic wine bar serving wine by the glass at the touch of a button.

The Millennium Class’s public areas will also be refreshed with new colour schemes, carpeting and upholstery reflective of the line and the Solstice Class ships. Part of the new “Designed for You” branding platform and combined with other brand programs such as the Celebrity Life onboard experience and Captain’s Club, the revitalization represents a USD200 million investment to enhance Celebrity Cruises as it celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2010.

Launched between 2000 and 2002, the Millenium Class fleet has garnered top accolades from leading travel publications such as the Condé Nast Traveler’s Cruise Poll and operate luxury cruises in Alaska, the Caribbean, Europe, North America and South America throughout the year. Owned by Royal Caribbean Cruises Limited, Celebrity Cruises’ fleet currently consists of 9 ships and will welcome its third Solstice Class vessel, the 122,000-GRT Celebrity Eclipse, in the summer of 2010.
