Swire Hotels Opens EAST

Hong Kong’s Swire Hotels has opened its second property in the Special Administrative Region. The 345-room EAST was opened today with a traditional ribbon cutting and lion dance ceremony attended by senior management from Swire Properties. Located within Swire’s landmark development Island East, the hotel is adjacent to the Tai Koo MTR station, with Central and Causeway Bay a short drive away.

Billed as a lifestyle business hotel, the 339 guestrooms and 6 suites feature contemporary design and large windows with urban or harbour views. Ranging from 28 square meters to 60 square meters, each room is furnished with twin, queen- or king-sized beds, bathrooms with walk-in rainforest shower, 37-inch LCD television with cable/satellite programming and laptop connectivity, high-speed internet access, iPod touch with iHome audio system, workdesk, in-room safe, espresso machine and complimentary tea infusions. The suite rooms are crafted with natural materials such as bamboo, marble and wood flooring, with a bubble chair from which guests can lounge and relax in.

EAST offers guests 2 unique food and beverage outlets in partnership with entrepreneur and Chef Davis Laris of the award-winning Laris at Three on the Bund in Shanghai. Feast is a stylish all-day dining cafe accessed by a distinctive bird’s nest style staircase with an Asian and Western focus, while the rooftop lounge Sugar on the 32nd floor is a place to unwind and chill out over cocktails and tapas, accompanied by tunes spun by the DJ. Both venues are also available for booking to accomodate private events.

For recreation, the hotel has a fitness center called Beast (Body by EAST) with a heated, outdoor swimming pool and 24-hour gymnasium with state-of-the-art strength and cardio equipment. A juice bar serves refreshing smoothies, energy drinks, water, supplements, vitamins, healthy snacks and fruits for guests to replenish lost nutrients.

EAST joins Swire Hotels’ other property, The Upper House, in Hong Kong. The group opened its first property, The Opposite House, in Beijing in 2008, with a collection of stylish boutique hotels under development in the UK. For more information, visit www.swirehotels.com and www.east-hongkong.com.
