Air China Opens New Lounge In Guangzhou

Star Alliance carrier Air China has opened a new premium lounge at Guangzhou’s Baiyun International Airport. Offering greater convenience to passengers, the new facility is located at the airport’s East Concourse 2 exclusive to Star Alliance carriers under its ‘Move under One Roof’ initiative and improves the competitiveness of its ground product at the home airport of rival and Skyteam member China Southern Airlines.

The 165-seat lounge will offer Air China and Star Alliance premium passengers dining before their flight at the food & beverage section, dressing and shower rooms to freshen up and quiet areas for passengers to rest whilst awaiting boarding. Business travellers will be able to work in comfort with high-speed internet access and mobile phone recharging stations available, while an entertainment zone helps passengers relax and unwind with a variety of print and broadcast media options. The lounge is also furnished with 2 VIP rooms for passengers requiring a private space.

The facility is expected to be popular with premium passengers flying from Guangzhou with Star Alliance. Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is also expected to see an increase in traffic later this year, when the city hosts the 2010 Asian Games. Currently, Beijing-based Air China and its fellow member airlines (including All Nippon Airways, Asiana Airlines, EgyptAir, Lufthansa, Shanghai Airlines, Singapore Airlines and Thai Airways), connect the city with more than 20 domestic and 7 international destinations.
