Costa Cruises Deploys Costa Romantica To Asia

Italy-based Costa Cruises is going ahead with its Asian expansion as the line prepares to welcome the 53,049-GRT Costa Romantica to sail in the region. Currently enroute from Mauritius after completing its Indian Ocean itinerares, the ship will replace the smaller Costa Allegra and join sister ship Costa Classica, which has been based in Asia since 2009. During her Asian deployment, Costa Romantica will operate 30 cruises from Singapore, Tianjin and Shanghai, calling at culturally-rich ports in Brunei, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

In April and May 2010, the ship will sail a series of 14-night voyages taking guests on a roundtrip from metropolitan Singapore around the fringe of the South China Sea, visiting Bandar Seri Begawan, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong, Kota Kinabalu and Manila. Costa Romantica then repositions to the Chinese port of Tianjin, where she will operate a series of 6-night cruises to Busan, Jeju and Fukuoka until mid-August 2010, when she switches to homeport in Shanghai. From the eastern Chinese city, the vessel will continue sailing East Asian waters and add Kagoshima to its port calls, before returning to Singapore via Da Nang, Halong Bay, Ho Chi Minh City, Keelung, Naha and Nha Trang in late October 2010. Before returning to Mauritius on 20 November 2010, Costa Romantica will sail one 14-night itinerary in Southeast Asia, bringing guests to Bali, Jakarta, Malacca, Phuket, Port Klang, Ujung Pandang and Komodo, where guests will be able to view the famous Komodo Dragon.

Affectionately known as the ship of romance, Costa Romantica boasts 678 luxurious cabins, including 24 suites and 10 grand suites with private balconies where guests can rediscover romance during their cruise. The 1,697-guest vessel is exquisitely embellished with rare woods and Carrara marble detailed by european artisans, with a collection of multi-million dollar original artwork. As with the rest of the Costa Cruises fleet, guests are guaranteed an authentic Italian cruising experience with the array of gourmet dining, onboard entertainment and amenities presented with the line’s distinct Italian passion and hospitality.
