JW Marriott Opens In Chicago’s Financial District

Occupying the first 12 floors of the historic Continental & Commercial National Bank building in Chicago’s financial district, the new JW Marriott Chicago opened yesterday in the Windy City. Originally designed by renowned architect Daniel Burnham, the 610-room hotel underwent an extensive restoration blending 21st century sensibility with Burnham’s distinctive style, offering guests a luxurious experience from the moment they step into the elegant, neoclassical lobby.

The well-appointed guestrooms and suites feature King-sized or twin beds, a marble bathroom with oversized bathtub and separate shower, 42-inch LCD television with cable programming, high-speed internet access, voicemail telephone, Plug-In Panel, workdesk with ergonomic chair, in-room safe, minibar and coffee-/tea-making facilities. In addition to the standard room amenities, Executive Level and Suite guests also enjoy complimentary access to the Executive Lounge.

The acclaimed BLT Restaurant Group’s newest concept, The Florentine, offers a seasonal and substantial menu of American-Italian fare with a distinct Chicago sensibility. Guests dine on creations from Corporate Executive Chef Rodelio Aglibot and Executive Chef Todd Stein showcasing top imported Italian pastas, cheeses, salts and meats, as well as ingredients from local organic farms. An adjacent upscale bar serves fine spirits, wines, specialty beers and fresh juice cocktails, while the lobby lounge is available for guests seeking a casual dining experience.

For business travellers and meeting planners, the JW Marriott Chicago boasts more than 4,000 square meters of flexible meeting space spanning 3 floors. 2 spacious ballrooms, including the 566-square meter Burnham Ballroom with its domed ceiling from the original bank building, accommodate large-scale functions, while 36 breakout rooms cater to more intimate events. All venues are equipped with high-speed internet access and Cisco TelePresence technology, supported by the hotel’s full-service business center.

Recreation facilities are centered around the VALEO Spa, a wellness center combining spa services, fitness facilities and a myriad of personal care options. Focusing on lifestyle portability, the 1,858-square meter facility boasts its trademark Clarity Chamber, which is a modern take on the ancient bathing rituals of the Greeks, Romans and Turks. The signature GEMASSAGE featuring crushed gemstones and herbal energy oils is also available, together with manicures, pedicures and massages. The fitness center and large swimming pool is suited for a relaxing workout or swim, before soothing the muscles in the therapeutic whirlpool.
