Azamara Unveils New Itineraries For 2012/2013

Azamara Club Cruises has unveiled 54 itineraries between March 2012 and February 2013 onboard the Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest that will take cruisers to a series of unique destinations from Asia to the Caribbean. The line has scheduled the voyages to coincide with major events taking place, with more than half the port calls featuring overnight stays or late night departures to maximize shore time.



The 694-guest Azamara Journey begins its Asia cruises with a 13-night “Spice Coast & Ceylon” departing Mumbai on 29 November 2012 for Chennai, calling at Cochin, Colombo, Galle, Goa and the Maldives as she makes her way around the Indian subcontinent. The ship then continues on a 11-night “Burma and Andaman Sea Isles” cruise on 12 December 2012, featuring a 2-night stay in Yangon and overnight in Singapore. On 23 December 2012, Azamara Journey sails northwards on a 14-night “Southeast Asia” voyage, with 2-night calls in Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City and an overnight in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Halong Bay before conclusing in Hong Kong.


Caribbean and North America

For her Caribbean voyages, Azamara Journey sails a 8-night “West Indies” cruise from Barbados to Miami on 10 March 2012, with a maiden call at Soufriere. She then operates a 10-night “Virgins and Bermuda” voyage from San Juan, visiting Hamilton and St. George Island, St. John’s and Virgin Gorda enroute to Boston. From the city, Azamara Journey repositions to Europe on 18 April 2012 via New York.


Sister vessel Azamara Quest returns to Miami from Seville on 7 November 2012, with overnights in Hamilton and Madeira. On 28 November 2012, she will depart on a 7-night “Eastern Caribbean” cruise to Barbados, calling at Castries, Mayreau, St. Barts and Virgin Gorda.



Following her arrival in Paris from North America on 29 April 2012, Azamara Journey embarks on a 7-night “Belgium and South England” roundtrip, taking guests to Bruges, Dover, Portland and St. Peter Port on the Channel Islands. She then celebrates Mother’s Day with a 11-night voyage to Amsterdam, with calls at Antwerp, Bruges, Dover, Isles of Scilly, Portland, St. Malo, St. Peter Port and Waterford, before operating a 12-night “Chelsea Flower Show” cruise on 17 May 2012 from the Dutch capital to Southampton via Antwerp, Bruges, Flushing, London (where guests can attend the annual RHS Chelsea Flower Show) and Paris.


The 12-night “British Isles in Bloom” voyage overnights in Dublin and Edinburgh, with visits to Holyhead, Kirkwall and St. Peter Port, as well as maiden calls for the line at Invergordon and Isle of Skye. On the 12-night “Castles, Distilleries & Pubs” voyage departing Edinburgh on 28 July 2012, guests will have the opportunity to explore Ireland and Scotland in greater detail, with 2-night stays and late departures from Dublin.


Azamara Journey then continues eastward on 10 June 2012 for a 10-night “Baltic White Nights” voyage, featuring overnights in Copenhagen and Stockholm, a maiden call to Ronne and a late departure from St. Petersburg for guests to join the annual White Nights Festival. Remaining in Scandinavia, her 9-night “Scan Russia” sailing on 27 June 2012 from Stockholm includes a maiden call to Visby, another UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Europe’s best preserved medieval cities.


Jazz aficionados will be glad to know that the ship sails a 11-night “Skagen and Hague Jazz” voyage on 6 July 2012 that features a maiden call to Skagen and extended stays in London and Rotterdam, where they can attend the North Seas Jazz Festival. The subsequent 11-night “Jazz in the Fjords” cruise takes guests to the breathtaking Norwegian fjords, with calls at Andalsnes, Bergen, Eidfjord, Geiranger, Stavanger and 2 days in Molde, where they have the option to join the Molde International Jazz Festival and a shore excursion to experience a ride on the famous Trollstigen.



Azamara Quest heads the line’s offerings in the Mediterranean with a 9-night “Holy Land, Egypt, Suez” sailing from Sokhna to Athens via Ephesus, Haifa, Jerusalem, Mykonos, Paphos, Rhodes and the Suez Canal. On 24 May 2012, the ship will operate Azamara Club Cruises’ only short cruise, a 5-night roundtrip from Nice along the French and Italian rivieras, with visits to Portofino, St. Tropez and Monte Carlo, where guests have the opportunity to attend the glamourous Monaco Grand Prix. She then heads for the Eastern Mediterranean, where 8 voyages to the Adriatic Coast, Greek Isles and Italy will be offered through June and July 2012, featuring port calls in Amalfi, Athens, Capri, Istanbul, Kotor, Mykonos and Venice. A special 10-night “Black Sea & Transylvania” voyage takes guests to Bulgaria, the Ukraine and Romania where guests can visit Dracula’s castle.


From August through October 2012, Azamara Quest joins the Azamara Journey for 10 sailings through the French, Italian and Spanish rivieras, with departures from Athens, Barcelona, Civitavecchia, Lisbon and Monaco. The ship will also visit North Africa on the 11-night “Libya, Sicily & Malta” voyage departing Barcelona on 16 October 2012, with maiden calls in Al Khums and Tripoli. 


South America

Azamara Quest will spend the winter months in electrifying South America, beginning with a 13-night Barbados to Rio de Janeiro voyage on 5 December 2012. The 9-night “Christmas in South America” cruise offers guests daily port calls and an overnight stay in Punta Del Este and Buenos Aires, while the 9-night “New Years in Rio” itinerary will see the ship position off Copacabana Beach after its New Year’s Eve call in Rio de Janeiro for a front row seat to the midnight fireworks over the seas.


She kickstarts 2013 with a 10-night “Argentina & Uruguay” cruise from Rio de Janeiro to Buenos Aires, calling at Ilhabela, Imbituba, Montevideo, Parati and Punta Del Este. Azamara Quest then spends 16 nights exploring Cape Horn and the Chilean fjords from Buenos Aires, returning to the Argentinian capital for her 12-night “Carnival” voyage in time for 2 nights in Rio de Janeiro for the annual Carnival festivities. The ship rounds up her South American deployment with a 18-night “Colonial Brazil & West Indies” sailing to Miami on 12 February 2013.
