Qatar Airways Chooses Montreal For Canada Debut

Qatar Airways has announced it will make its Canadian debut on 29 June 2011 with a new 3 times weekly service to Montreal, following the securing of rights to operate passenger and freighter flights to the country. The airline is the first Gulf carrier to operate in Canada’s second largest city, which becomes its fourth destination in North America, after Houston, New York and Washington DC.

Operated by its 2-class Boeing 777-200LR aircraft configured with 42 Business and 217 Economy Class seats, flight QR 927 will depart Doha at 0830 hrs on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, arriving in Montreal at 1450 hrs. The return flight, QR 928, takes off from Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport at 2315 hrs, landing back at Doha International Airport at 1840 hrs the next day.

The highly-anticipated Doha-Montreal route is expected to facilitate business and leisure travel between Quebec, the Middle East and Asia. Flights have been timed to provide convenient onward connections at Qatar Airways’ Doha hub to regional and Asian destinations, including Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Bangkok, Beirut, Delhi, Dubai, Ho Chi Minh City, Karachi, Kuwait, Mumbai, Singapore, Tehran and Tokyo.

In addition to Montreal, Qatar Airways will add the cities of Aleppo, Shiraz, Stuttgart and Venice to its global network this year. The airline plans to serve over 120 destinations by 2013.
