Holland America Line Reveals Summer 2012 Europe Itineraries

Holland America Line has revealed its European itineraries for the summer 2012 season, becoming the latest cruise operator to undertake a large scale deployment to the popular cruise region. The Seattle-headquartered line will deploy 7 of its 15 ships to operate 44 unique itineraries ranging from 7 to 35 days, featuring 4 new itineraries and maiden calls at Durress, Eidfjord, Fowey, Kirkenes and Ulvik.

 

Northern Europe

New for 2012 are 7-day Norwegian Fjords roundtrip cruises sailing from May through September out of Amsterdam, Dover or Rotterdam onboard ms Eurodam, ms Ryndam and ms Rotterdam respectively. Passengers will visit Alesund, Bergen, Eidfjord and Geiranger on the northern voyages and Kristiansand, Oslo, Stavanger and Ulvik on the southern cruises. A series of longer 12-, 13- and 14-day cruises combine the Norwegian fjords with visits into the Arctic Circle (Honningsvag, Kirkenes, Leknes and Tromso) or Scotland (Invergordon, Newcastle upon Tyne and South Queensbury).

 

Cruisers looking to explore the British Isles or Iceland can select from itineraries operated by ms Eurodamms Prinsendam and ms Rotterdam, calling at ports including Belfast, Cork, Dublin, Kirkwall, Klaksvik, Liverpool, Plymouth, Reykjavik, Rosyth, Seydisfjordur, St. Malo and St. Peter Port. The 3 vessels, together with sister ship ms Ryndam, will also offer a series of Baltic Sea cruises to visit Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Russia and Sweden.

 

Canary Islands and Mediterranean

Departing from Rotterdam on 16 April 2012, ms Ryndam will sail a new 20-day Portugal, Spain & Canary Islands cruise, calling at the tropical ports of Arrecife, Cadiz, Casablanca, Funchal, Las Palmas, Lisbon, Portimao and Santa Cruz, before returning to the Dutch port via Dover. Holland America Line is also offering a 17-day Spanish Rhapsody itinerary onboard ms Rotterdam departing Rotterdam on 2 May 2012 and visiting Almeria, Barcelona, Cadiz, Cartagena, Civitavecchia, Gibraltar, Ibiza, Lisbon and Valencia.

 

3 of the line’s largest ships, the 2,104-passenger ms Eurodam, ms Nieuw Amsterdam and the 1,918-passenger ms Noordam, will cruise the Mediterranean Sea with a series of itineraries ranging from 7 to 12 days, with visits to popular ports such as Alicante, Barcelona, Civitavecchia, Corfu, Dubrovnik, Istanbul, Katakolon, Kusadasi, Livorno, Messina, Monte Carlo, Mykonos, Naples, Santorini, Split and Venice, as well as stops in exotic Montenegro and Tunisia. The 835-passenger ms Prinsendam will also offer several unique itineraries, including a 14-day Black Sea & The Mediterranean, 14-day Venetian Empire and 16-day Holy Land Explorer cruise taking guests to Bulgaria, Egypt, Israel, Russia and the Ukraine.
