Etihad Plans Seychelles Flights, Onboard Chefs

Etihad Airways has announced plans to launch flights between the Seychelles and its Abu Dhabi base. The National Airline of the UAE will also be expanding its onboard service offering for Diamond First class guests with the introduction of international chefs onboard flights. 


4 Times Weekly Abu Dhabi – Mahe

Citing growing demand for leisure travel to the island destination off the east coast of Africa, Etihad will operate 4 return services each week from 1 November 2011 with flights timed to connect in Abu Dhabi with its long-haul and regional services.


Flight EY 622 will depart Abu Dhabi at 1000 hrs every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, arriving in Mahe at 1435 hrs. The return flight, EY 621, takes off from Seychelles International Airport at 1855 hrs and lands back at Abu Dhabi International Airport at 2330 hrs. The airline will operate a 2-class Airbus A320 configured with 16 Pearl Business and 120 Coral Economy class seat on the route.


International Chefs Onboard Diamond First Class, Food and Beverage Managers Dedicated to Pearl Business Class

Etihad is also looking to elevate the inflight dining experience for its Diamond First class guests. From October 2011, selected routes will have an international chef onboard with the airline aiming to implement the service on all flights offering Diamond First class by the end of 2011.


Part of its “Inspired Service” concept, the chefs will be responsible for preparing and presenting menu items onboard to deliver a restaurant-style service in the sky and contribute to the development of inflight and lounge dining menus to ensure a consistent culinary experience. Etihad’s Food and Beverage Managers will be dedicated to advising guests in Pearl Business class on their onboard meal choices and provide recommendations on wine pairing.
