Emirates To Launch Flights To St. Petersburg

Emirates is set to further expand its European coverage with a second destination in Russia. The airline has announced that it is to launch services between its Dubai base and St. Petersburg, complementing its existing double daily Moscow flights. When launched on 1 November 2011, the Baltic port city will become the northernmost point on the airline’s flying network.

Flight EK 137 will depart Dubai daily at 1035 hrs, arriving in St. Petersburg at 1615 hrs. The return flight, EK 138, takes off from Pulkovo Airport at 1745 hrs to land back at Dubai International Airport at 0035 hrs the next morning. Emirates will utilize a combination of 3-class Airbus A330-200 and A340-300 aircraft on the nonstop route, more than doubling the capacity on the route with 1,839 additional seats each week.

With its grand architecture, fascinating history, rich arts and culture, the route is expected to be popular with leisure travellers from other Emirates destinations. The airline will also be targeting Russian travellers vacationing in the UAE and Middle East for demand, as well as cargo traffic between Russia, Africa and Asia.
