TransAsia Airways Begins Flights To Singapore

Taiwanese carrier TransAsia Airways has launched services between Taipei and Singapore, as part of its ongoing network expansion across Asia. The inaugural flight landed at Changi International Airport late yesterday evening, marking the airline as the sixth carrier (joining China Airlines, EVA Air, Jetstar Asia, Singapore Airlines and Tiger Airways) to operate on the route.


Flight GE 887 departs Taipei at 1920 hrs daily, arriving in Singapore at 2345 hrs. The aircraft overnights in the Southeast Asian city-state before operating the return flight, GE 888, at 0720 hrs to land back at Taoyuan International Airport at 1140 hrs. The airline will utilize a 150-seat Airbus A320, configured with Business and Economy Class seating, on the route.


TransAsia Airways currently operates domestic and regional services from Taiwan, but has plans to expand internationally. The carrier has embarked on a fleet expansion and renewal, purchasing 8 widebody Airbus A330-300s to operate long-haul flights.
