Oman Air To Begin Muscat – Zurich Flights

*Update* Oman Air has pushed back the commencement of its Muscat – Switzerland service. The inaugural flight will now take place on 2 December 2011 instead of 30 October 2011 as previously announced.


Oman Air has announced that it will launch flights to Zurich, its sixth European destination, from 30 October 2011. The Muscat-based airline will fly 4 times weekly on a split schedule with 2 daylight and 2 overnight flights using a 2-class Airbus A330-200 jet configured with 20 Business and 196 Economy Class seats.


On the outbound leg, flight WY 153 will depart Muscat at 1635 hrs (Mondays) / 1310 hrs (Fridays) and arrive in Zurich at 2055 hrs (Mondays) / 1730 hrs (Fridays). The overnight flight, WY 151, will depart the Omani capital at 0230 hrs on Wednesdays and Sundays, arriving in Zurich at 0650 hrs.


From Zurich, flight WY 154 takes off at 2225 hrs (Mondays) / 2100 hrs (Fridays) to land back at Muscat International Airport at 0810 hrs (Tuesdays) / 0645 hrs (Saturdays), while flight WY 152 departs Zurich Kloten Airport at 0915 hrs for a 1900 hrs arrival back in Muscat.


Oman Air joins competitor Swiss International Air Lines on the Muscat – Zurich route, although it will be the only carrier to offer a nonstop connection with the latter routing its flights via Dubai. Positioning itself as a boutique carrier, Oman Air also flies to Frankfurt, London (Heathrow), Milan (Malpensa) and Paris (Charles de Gaulle) in Europe.
