Celebrity Silhouette Named In Hamburg

Celebrity Cruises’ award-winning Solstice-class cruise ships gained its fourth member yesterday with the naming of the new Celebrity Silhouette in Hamburg. President and CEO of Signature Travel Network Michelle Morgan served as godmother to the ship, cutting a pink ribbon to release the bottle of champagne against one of the 2 funnels, in a ceremony that was broadcast live over the internet on Facebook.

The 2,886-guest Celebrity Silhouette bears the visual appeal and expansive spaces found on her sisters, with several new features added. Most are centered around the real grass Lawn Club, including the new Lawn Club Grill (where guests can select and grill their own meat cuts with the assistance of the ship’s chefs) and The Alcoves (a collection of 8 cabanas available for rent).

The Porch is a casual 48-seat al fresco cafe offering spectacular views of the sea, while nearby is The Art Studio where guests can express their artistic flair in a classroom setting. There are also 2 entirely new venues onboard, The Hideaway and Michael’s Club. The former is a collection of peculiar wooden nooks with wi-fi and Apple products from the Celebrity iLounge, while the latter is a social club with over 50 international beers and homemade snacks on offer.

Celebrity Silhouette is currently on a 7-night voyage from Hamburg to Civitavecchia, where she will spend her inaugural summer season operating roundtrip 12-night Eastern Mediterranean and Holy Land cruises. The ship crosses the Atlantic Ocean to sail in the Caribbean during the winter from her homeport in Bayonne, New Jersey.
