Holland America Line is enhancing the 2012 Asian deployment of the 1,432-passenger ms Zaandam, with the addition of a new 14-day Asia Explorer itinerary between Hong Kong and Singapore. The Seattle-based line is also sailing a 14-day China & Korea sailing that will see it conduct its maiden calls to South Korea. Guests will have the opportunity to combine back-to-back sailings for a 28-day cruise that covers the destinations around Southeast and Northeast Asia.

14-day Asia Explorer

Sailing from January to March 2012, ms Zaandam operates 5 cruises between Hong Kong and Singapore that bring cruisers across the South China Sea. Port calls at Bangkok, Koh Samui, Nha Trang, Phu My and Sihanoukville enroute reveal the unique sights of Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam.

14-day China & Korea

Operating roundtrip from Hong Kong on 19 February 2012, the ship heads north towards Shanghai where guests can take advantage of 2 full days in port to explore China’s commercial and financial centre. ms Zaandam continues along the Chinese coast to call at Xingang, where shore excursion opportunities cover visits to the iconic Forbidden City, Summer Palace and Great Wall of China in and around Beijing. Turning east, the ship makes her maiden calls at the South Korean port of Incheon, before sailing for the idyllic Jeju Island enroute back to Hong Kong.

22-day Japan & Alaska

Concluding her Asian deployment, ms Zaandam will return to North America with a 22-day repositioning cruise from Japan. Departing Kobe, she cruises south to Kagoshima and Nagasaki before heading around to Pusan. The ship continues onward to Vladivostok and Petropavlovsk in Russia, crossing the International Date Line to arrive in Kodiak. Cruising Glacier Bay, ms Zaandam will visit Sitka and Prince Rupert before arriving in Vancouver via the Inside Passage.
