Qatar Airways Adds New Indian Destination To Network

Doha-based carrier Qatar Airways expanded its network in South Asia yesterday with the launch of flights between the Qatari capital and Kolkata, its 12th Indian destination. The inaugural service, carrying a full load of international media and paying passengers, arrived to a traditional water cannon salute at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport.

Departing Doha daily at 1940 hrs, flight QR 294 arrives in Kolkata at 0310 hrs the next day. On the return leg, flight QR 295 takes off from the commercial capital of eastern India at 0410 hrs, landing back at Doha International Airport at 0700 hrs. Operated by a 2-class Airbus A320 jet, the flight timings have been optimized to take advantage of onward connections to and from Qatar Airways’ regional and international services.

Qatar Airways’ Indian network now covers Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bangalore, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Mumbai and Trivandrum. Over the next few months, the airline plans to further extend its global reach with new flights from its Doha base to Baku, Entebbe, Oslo, Sofia and Tbilisi.
