The Nolitan Opens For Business

New York’s highly-anticipated boutique hotel The Nolitan officially opened yesterday, welcoming its first paying guests after a lengthy development process. Located on the corner of Kenmare and Elizabeth Streets in Manhattan, the 55-room property was designed by local consultancy Grzywinski+Pons, which created an authentic neighbourhood atmosphere integrating the hotel with its surroundings.

8 different accommodation types (including the Neighbourhood and Cityscape Rooms) are available in a variety of shapes and sizes. Each guestroom features hardwood flooring, a luxurious King- or Queen-sized bed with 300-threadcount linen, open-plan bathroom with rainforest shower and amenities by boutique spa brand Red Flower. A 37-inch flatscreen television, iPod docking station, high-speed internet access, workstation and voicemail-enabled telephone cater to the work and leisure needs of travellers, while a generous minibar stocked with a wide variety of offerings ranging from classic chocolates to healthy coconut water is available.

The Nolitan’s restaurant, ellabess, is a seasonal American restaurant headed by acclaimed Chef Troy Unruh and serving a menu of market-fresh dishes, including “Peeky Toe Crab with Squash, Uni Butter, Cilantro and Sesame Cracker” and “Roasted Lamb Sirloin with Black Cardamom and Baby Fennel”. The Lobby Lounge is a place for guests to relax with friends and family over drinks, light bites and games. An impressive library curated by Phaidon Books complements the sunken seating area finished with lush fabrics and upholstery that creates a welcoming ambience.

Intimate and distinctive, the hotel’s landscaped rooftop offers 223 square meters of deck space with sweeping city views of Brooklyn, downtown and midtown Manhattan. Shade canopies, designer seating and an outdoor fireplace make it an ideal location for private parties, product launches or gatherings. A suite of services, ranging from complimentary bicycle and skateboard rentals, daily access pass to Equinox Fitness, We ♥ T.A.I.L.S pet amenities programme and an exclusive neighbourhood shopping partner programme ensure guests are kept occupied during leisure hours.

The Nolitan joins a recent string of boutique hotel openings in New York, including the chic YOTEL New York, Dream Downtown, Mondrian SoHo and Aloft Brooklyn. The trend is set to continue with upcoming openings from Hyatt (Hyatt 48Lex), Grupo Habita (Hotel Americano) and Wyndham Hotel Group (Tryp Times Square South).
