Eccleston Square Hotel Opens In London

One of London’s highly-anticipated hotels opened earlier this week in the city’s Belgravia district. Set behind a striking late Georgian facade, the 39-room Eccleston Square Hotel is touted to be Europe’s most high-tech hotel and joins the portfolio of boutique hotel collection Design Hotels. Expert planners Woods Bagot equipped the property with revolutionary gadgets, underfloor water heating and sleep-inducing technology to transform the guestrooms into sensual, inner-city sanctuaries where guests can re-energize and relax.

Hästens, the acclaimed Swedish manufacturer, supplied electronically-adjustable massage beds, while the high-spec marble bathrooms feature rainforest showers with high-pressure heads and L’Occitane amenities, electronically-controlled privacy glass walls and a television incorporated within the steam-proof mirror. Each guestroom is also furnished with 46-inch 3D LED televisions, 3D Blu-ray DVD players, complimentary high-speed internet access, IP telephones and iPad2s, while every possible function is controlled from the fingertip control pads.

A 50-cover restaurant and bar, Bistrot on the Square, provides authentic and high-quality French dining. Executive Chef Keith Shearer helms the culinary creations prepared with the finest ingredients, served to guests taking in the exquisite surroundings, including theatrical crystal chandeliers and contemporary leather and wood-panelled walls. Traditional afternoon tea is served in the elegant lounge, where studded tub chairs, open fireplace, silk-finished walls and fine bone china make for a quintessentially British atmosphere.

For business travellers and meeting planners, the hotel offer a selection of ground-breaking meeting rooms that offer a glimpse of what hotels in the future will look like. Taking centerstage is a 120-inch 3D media wall which has been purpose-built for stylish presentations or video conferencing, complemented by a state-of-the-art sound system.

London is currently enjoying a development boom for boutique and luxury hotels in anticipation of increased market demand from next year’s Summer Olympics. The Eccleston Square Hotel joins an impressive collection of London properties under the Design Hotels flag, including the Blakes Hotel, Knightsbridge Hotel, The Pelham Hotel and the Sanctum SoHo Hotel.
