Emirates Announces Dublin Connection

Dubai-based Emirates continues its European expansion with the announcement that it is to begin flights to Dublin. Until now, the carrier has relied on its strong network in the UK to serve Ireland, but will fly direct from its base from 9 January 2012, marking it’s entry into the country.

Flight EK 161 will depart Dubai at 0700 hrs daily, arriving in Dublin at 1130 hrs. The return flight, EK 162, takes off from Dublin International Airport at 1255 hrs to land back at Dubai International Airport Terminal 3 at 0025 hrs the next day. Emirates will fly a 3-class Airbus A330-200 jet on the route.

The airline is targeting both O&D and connecting traffic from Africa, Asia and Australia for demand. Emirates joins rival Etihad Airways in serving the Irish capital from the UAE, with the latter offering 10 flights each week from neighbouring Abu Dhabi.
