EVA Air Unveils Second Generation Hello Kitty Jets

Taipei-based EVA Air has unveiled its second-generation Hello Kitty logojet, 2 years after retiring the first special livery series. At a specially-decorated hangar earlier this week, the airline held a party as part of its 20th anniversary celebrations and in collaboration with Japanese company Sanrio to roll-out the first of 3 themed Airbus A330-300 aircraft to be adorned with the popular cartoon character.

Named “Magic Jet”, “Apple Jet” and “Global Jet”, images of Hello Kitty and accompanying characters have been painted the length of the aircraft fuselage on both sides, while also retaining EVA Air’s green tails and logo. Onboard, passengers will experience elaborately decorated Hello Kitty cabins and themed service items, including headrest covers, utensils, snacks, meals and ice cream. Flight attendants wearing Hello Kitty aprons and special insignias on their uniforms will offer a series of limited-edition duty-free products and collectibles to fans.

Configured with 30 Premium Laurel business class and 279 Economy Class seats featuring an updated inflight entertainment system, the jets will be deployed on EVA Air’s regional flights between Taiwan, Japan and South Korea. The “Magic Jet”  is being introduced on the airline’s Taipei – Sapporo service, while the “Apple Jet” and “Global Jet” are scheduled to debut later this year on EVA Air’s flights to Fukuoka, Tokyo and Seoul.

Taiwan’s second biggest carrier, EVA Air flies to over 40 international destinations on 4 continents. The airline is rapidly expanding in mainland China, where it currently serves 19 cities, with 4 more destinations (Harbin, Huangshan, Shenyang and Xian) due to be added by January 2012.
