New Openings For Starwood’s St. Regis And Luxury Collection Brands

Hospitality giant Starwood Hotels and Resorts’ luxury brands St. Regis and The Luxury Collection have welcomed new additions to their portfolios in Asia and the Middle East. The former makes its debut in Abu Dhabi and Tianjin, while Thailand gains a new resort in the form of The Naka Island.

St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort

Thoughtful Mediterranean architecture and contemporary interior design using natural products and elements accentuate the St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort’s prestigious beachfront address at Abu Dhabi’s newest playground, Saadiyat Island. Located 20 minutes from the international airport and 7 minutes from downtown Abu Dhabi, the resort is St. Regis’ first in the Middle East and opens a new frontier for the brand.

Ranging from the intimate 55-square meter Superior Rooms to the majestic 2,000-square meter Royal Suite, the accommodations at the resort boast panoramic views from the private balcony with guest service by the brand’s signature butlers. Each is lavishly appointed with luxury amenities and state-of-the-art technology, including King-sized bedding, marble bathroom with Remede bath amenities, 42-inch flatscreen television, iPod docking station, complimentary high-speed internet access, IP telephone, in-room safe and refreshment center.

The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort’s dining venues and settings provide guests with opportunities to experience some of the highest standards of global cuisine in Abu Dhabi. The Mediterranean-influenced Olea offers indoor or al fresco all-day dining, while Turquoiz’s fresh seafood dishes pay tribute to the ocean that enwraps Saadiyat Island. 55&5th is inspired by the address of the iconic St. Regis New York and includes an exclusive chef’s table for discerning guests, with The Drawing Room celebrating the time-honoured tradition of afternoon tea accented by handmade chocolates from Sucre. Rounding up the offerings is Sontaya, a culinary mosaic of Southeast Asian ambience and favorites, serving the resort’s signature Bloody Mary – the Arabian Snapper.

5 meeting rooms, including a 3,206-square meter Regal Ballroom, offer flexible venues for corporate meetings or intimate gatherings. Internationally-acclaimed treatments are available at the region’s first Iridium Spa, while the St. Regis Athletic Club’s 25-meter indoor lap pool, 4 outdoor swimming pools, modern gymnasium, 2 tennis courts and 2 squash courts cater to the sporting needs of enthusiasts. Younger guests aged between 1 and 10 years old can keep occupied at the Sandcastle Club, thoughtfully crafted with indoor and outdoor activities.

The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort will soon be joined by a sister property, the St. Regis Abu Dhabi, in the emirate. Within the Middle East, the brand is also developing hotels in Amman and Doha, with the latter slated to open early next year.

St. Regis Tianjin

Located along the south bank of the picturesque Hai River in the prestigious Heping district, the St. Regis Tianjin is an exclusive sanctuary of unsurpassed elegance and flawless service. The 18-storey hotel occupies a steel and glass tower in the shape of a hollowed cube designed by renowned architectural firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, accentuating Tianjin’s status as a historical gateway to Northern China.

The 274-room hotel is the first in the city to introduce the signature St. Regis Butler Service. Ranging in size from 42 to 427 square meters, the accommodations are amongst the largest in Tianjin and offers modern conveniences such as luxury bedding, marble bathrooms, LCD televisions, iPod docking stations and sound systems, high-speed internet access, in-room safe, minibar and coffee-/tea-making facilities.

Epicureans will relish the hotel’s riverfront restaurants, including Riviera, a refined brasserie with a dedicated French menu and ambience, as well as the all-day dining restaurant Promenade and its selection of Italian and Mediterranean dishes. Modern Cantonese cuisine can be enjoyed in Yan Ting’s 11 private rooms, with the restaurant also offering the city’s only 24K Gold and Silver menus for wedding anniversary celebrations. Complementing the food are Decanter’s wine vintages from some of the most celebrated vineyards around the world, while The St. Regis Bar is ideal for relaxing and socializing over a Jin Mary, the hotel’s take on the original Bloody Mary created at the flagship St. Regis New York’s King Cole Bar.

Business travellers and meeting planners can take advantage of more than 2,700 square meters of thoughtfully designed and functional event space. The elegant Sky Ballroom on the 15th floor provides sweeping views of Tianjin, while the lovely rooftop garden is perfect for small corporate events and cocktail parties. Leisure guests will enjoy the 1,200-square meter Iridium Spa, with its 5 private treatment rooms and 2 couples suites, before heading to the exercise room for a refreshing workout or swim in the heated indoor swimming pool.

China is a key growth market for St. Regis, with the St. Regis Tianjin joining existing properties in Beijing, Lhasa and Shanghai. The brand has 6 other hotels under development, including the St. Regis Sanya Yalong Bay opening next week.
