USA’s First Radisson Blu Opens In Chicago

Travel giant Carlson, in collaboration with the Rezidor Hotel Group, has debuted the Radisson Blu brand in the USA with the opening of its first hotel in Chicago’s Aqua tower. Occupying the first 18 floors of the 81-storey skyscraper designed by acclaimed architect Jeanne Gang, the new Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel Chicago is conveniently located near the city’s world-famous galleries, North Michigan Avenue and Union Station, while remaining easily accessible to O’Hare International and Midway Airports.

The tower’s gorgeous rippling facade captures the attention of guests as they approach, complemented by dramatic focal points inside. The lobby showcases an Egyptian bronze metal wall sculpture made of intricate, interlocking gold discs, while the folded steel plate “flying staircase” appears to defy gravity, setting the tone for the striking, fashion-inspired guestroom interiors from Swedish designer Christian Lundwall.

352 guestrooms and suites, ranging from the City and Park View Rooms to the imperial 2-bedroom Aqua Presidential Suite, await guests. Featuring 2 of the brand’s new accommodation styles, Naturally Cool and Mansion House, each combines design, quality and functionality to offer a chic, yet sophisticated haven of tranquility in the heart of the Windy City, accompanied by quality amenities including luxury bedding, spacious bathroom with Anne Semonin bath products, LCD television, complimentary high-speed internet access, workstation, laptop-sized in-room safe, minibar and coffee-/tea-making facilities.

The hotel’s Filini bar and restaurant promises some of Chicago’s freshest, most exciting, contemporary Italian cuisine. As at her sister locations in European Radisson Blu hotels, guests can dine on authentic menu items such as stuzzichini, secondi, pastas and woodburning oven pizzas, while the contemporary surrounds provide plenty of natural dayligh yet remains cozy at night.

Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel Chicago’s 2,508 square meters of meeting space, including a 1,161-square meter ballroom featuring nearly 2-meter high windows offering views of The Park at Lakeshore East, and extensive outdoor space are ideal for social and business events. An extraordinary 7,432-square meter green roof and recreation deck with luxury gardens and gazebos provide an urban resort setting, while swimming pools, a hot tub, cabanas, a 0.32-kilometer running/walking trail, firepit and grills, media room, billiards and game area, as well as an all-embracing health and fitness center keep guests occupied with an array of activities.
