China Airlines Connects Kuala Lumpur With Kaohsiung

Taipei-based China Airlines has bolstered its secondary hub in Kaohsiung, with the resumption of flights between the southern port city and Kuala Lumpur last week. Previously served via Hong Kong in the early 2000s, the airline is returning with a nonstop flight operated with a 158-seat Boeing 737-800 jet.

Flight CI 723 departs Kaohsiung at 1410 hrs on Wednesdays and Saturdays, arriving in Kuala Lumpur at 1830 hrs. The return leg, flight CI 724, takes off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 1930 hrs to land back at Kaohsiung International Airport at 2340 hrs.

The service complements China Airlines’ existing daily Taipei – Kuala Lumpur flights, with demand for seats from business and leisure travellers visiting Kaohsiung and southern Taiwan. The airline is expected to fill the void created when Malaysia Airlines’ cancelled its Kuala Lumpur – Kota Kinabalu – Kaohsiung route on 29 September 2011.

A member of Skyteam, China Airlines operates a fleet of 49 passenger jets and 19 freighters. The airline currently flies to 98 destinations in 29 countries and regions around the world.
