Jetstar Launches New Beijing Service

Australian low cost carrier Jetstar continues to make inroads into the Chinese aviation market, with the launch of its first flights to Beijing today. Operated using a widebody Airbus A330-200 configured to carry 303 passengers in 2 classes, the daily service from Melbourne via Singapore is expected to cater to the projected increase in business and leisure travel between Australia and China.


Departing Melbourne at 1200 hrs, flight JQ 007 arrives in Singapore at 1650 hrs before continuing to Beijing at 1835 hrs for a 0050 hrs arrival the next day in the Chinese capital. The return flight, JQ 008, takes off from Beijing Capital International Airport at 0250 hrs, landing at Changi International Airport at 0930 hrs for a stopover. The aircraft then departs Singapore at 2050 hrs, arriving back into Melbourne at 0655 hrs the next morning.


Beijing becomes the ninth destination in Greater China for Jetstar, joining Guilin, Haikou, Hangzhou, Hong Kong, Macau, Ningbo, Shantou and Taipei. The airline will also launch Singapore – Guangzhou services next month, cementing its position as one of the leading low cost carriers in the Asia-Pacific region.
