Holland America Deploys ms Volendam To Asia For 2012/2013

Holland America Line has announced that the 60,890-GRT ms Volendam will return to cruise Asian waters in 2013, in response to growing interest in the Far East. The vessel, which is poised to visit the region in early 2012, will sail a series of itineraries visiting Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand.

16-day Great Barrier Holiday

From her Australian deployment, ms Volendam will depart Sydney on 22 December 2012 for Singapore via Indonesia. Sailing along the coast of Queensland, guests will visit Hamilton Island, Cairns, the Great Barrier Reef, Darwin, Komodo Island, Lombok and Semarang enroute, with the opportunity to marvel at some of the last unspoilt natural habitats in the Asia-Pacific.

14-day Far East Explorer

Sailing between Singapore and Hong Kong through January and early February 2013, the ship’s 3 voyages on this classic itinerary brings guests to explore the history and culture of Southeast Asia. Port calls in Bangkok, Danang, Halong Bay, Koh Samui, Nha Trang, Phu My and Sihanoukville combined with memorable shore excursions reveal the rustic charm of Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam.

14-day China & Japan Discovery

The allure of Northeast Asia beckons for cruisers on the 4 voyages visiting China, Japan and South Korea. Operating between Hong Kong and Kobe from mid-February through March 2012, ms Volendam will call at Busan, Dalian, Nagasaki, Shanghai and Xingang, with a final roundtrip sailing from Kobe departing 1 April 2012.

17-day Transpacific Repositioning

Rounding up her Asian deployment, the ship departs Kobe on 15 April 2013 to sail east across the Pacific Ocean to Vancouver. In addition to exotic ports such as Hakodate, Ketchikan, Kodiak, Kushiro and Yokohama, the itinerary features scenic cruising through Alaska’s Glacier Bay and Inside Passage as she makes her way back to Canada in time for the Alaska sailing season.
