Jumeirah Opens Second Maldivian Resort

Dubai’s Jumeirah Group has opened its second resort in the Maldives. Located 20 minutes by speedboat from Male International Airport, the ultra-luxurious Jumeirah Vittaveli Maldives is nestled in a spot of astounding beauty in the heart of the Indian Ocean.

The resort offers a collection of villas and suites, ranging from 184 to 800 square meters, with most incorporating a private swimming pool and terrace. Each features spacious interiors with timber flooring and high ceilings creating a quintessential resort feel, complemented by top-quality furnishings and amenities. Guests enjoy King-sized bedding, an outdoor day bed, breathtaking open-air shower and bathtub, Apple Media Center with 42-inch flatscreen television, interactive controller, keyboard, Bose sound system and iPod docking station, complimentary high-speed internet access, in-room safe, private wine cellar, Nespresso coffee machine and tea-making facilities.

Executive Chef Kai Boeddinghaus, whose work in Frankfurt’s Kameha Suite earned him a Michelin star, helms Jumeirah Vittaveli Maldives’ 3 restaurants. The all-day dining Samsara restaurant presents a Pan-Asian menu interspersed by traditional Maldivian classics prepared at live cooking stations, while the overwater Restaurant Fenesse’s refined Mediterranean dishes interplay with its striking design to create an intimate dining haven. In the evenings, Mu Beach Bar & Grill serves up a variety of sizzling barbecued temptations and grill items under the stars and accompanied by the gentle lapping waves.

The resort’s Talise Spa promises a sanctuary of peace to rejuvenate and heal through a medley of treatments and programs. Independent treatment rooms create the environment for alternative therapies by expert wellness specialists and a platform surrounded by the turquoise waters is perfect for meditation and yoga in the mornings. Guests can also indulge in watersports including snorkelling, canoeing, windsurfing and diving amongst some of the world’s best coral reefs, while younger guests are kept occupied by the Sinbad Kid’s Club offering fun, interactive and educational activities.

Jumeirah Vittaveli Maldives culminates a year of expansion for Jumeirah Group, which has opened 5 other new hotels (Jumeirah at Etihad Towers, Jumeirah Zabeel Saray, Jumeirah Dhevanafushi, Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel Shanghai and Jumeirah Frankfurt) in 2011. The company expects to continue the momentum in 2012, with new openings planned in Baku, Dubai, Kuwait, London, Mallorca and Rome.
