Tiger Airways Plans Return To Kochi

Low cost carrier Tiger Airways has announced plans to resume service between Singapore and Kochi, 4 years since it discontinued the route due to poor loads. Beginning 27 April 2012, the Singapore-based carrier will fly 4 times weekly to the bustling seaside city in southwest India, reflecting new confidence in business and leisure travel between India and Southeast Asia.

Flight TR 2648 will depart Singapore at 2250 hrs on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, arriving in Kochi at 0050 hrs the next day. The return flight, TR 2649, takes off from Cochin International Airport at 0150 hrs, landing back at Changi International Airport at 0850 hrs. Tiger Airways will utilize a 144-seat Airbus A319 jet on the route.

Kochi becomes the fifth Indian destination in Tiger Airways’ network, joining Bangalore, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram and Tiruchirapalli. The airline is focusing on the growing South Asian market and is due to begin flights to the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka, in March 2012.
