Accor Opens Sofitel So Bangkok

Accor’s trendy Sofitel So sub-brand has further grown its footprint with the opening of its first hotel in Asia. The 30-storey Sofitel So Bangkok on North Sathorn Road adjacent to Lumpini Park has been created by reputable Thai architect Smith Obayawat with interiors by 5 local designers teamed with France’s Christian Lacroix revolving around the 5 natural elements of earth, metal, water, wood and fire.

The 238 guestrooms and suites offer themed accommodation around the first 4 elements and each presents a distinct standout feature such as a bathtub with views of the Bangkok skyline (water) or sleek, modern white furnishings (metal). Amenities include the signature Sofitel MyBed, separate bathtub and rainforest shower, 40-inch LCD television, Apple Mac Mini media solution, complimentary high-speed internet, workdesk, in-room safe and minibar.

The fire element is present in the hotel’s public area design, where hints of it can be found throughout the 6 food & beverage outlets. The all-day dining Red Oven features live cooking stations and a namesake red oven in the centre, while the Park Society Restaurant & HI SO Bar captivates the senses with its array of fine gastronomy and spectacular views. Chocolab is a charming chocolate boutique to indulge in the sensual tastes of hand-made chocolates and fresh savouries in a cosy atmosphere, before retiring to Mixo for its molecular cocktails and chill-out tunes. Completing the offerings is the Water Club, a playful and fun poolside bar for sun worshipping in the day and parties under the stars at night.

Sofitel So Bangkok offers a 380-square meter ballroom alongside 6 meetings rooms for events and functions, equipped with complimentary internet access together with state-of-the-art audio-visual and conferencing technology. For recreation, the So SPA blends traditional treatments with world-class French cosmetology, while the forest-themed So FIT offers innovative activities and fun workouts for guests after a relaxing swim in the outdoor swimming pool.

The Sofitel So sub-brand now boasts 2 properties worldwide, with Sofitel So Bangkok joining the Sofitel So Mauritius Bel Ombre. A further 2 hotels are currently under development in Mumbai and Singapore, slated to open within the next couple of years.
