St. Regis Expands Into Qatar

Hospitality giant Starwood’s luxury St. Regis brand has expanded its global footprint to Qatar with the opening of its newest property in the country’s capital Doha. Occupying a prime seafront location at West Bay, the 336-room St. Regis Doha welcomed its first guests earlier this week as it seeks to capitalize on Qatar’s growing tourism ambitions.

Flawlessly styled in modern opulence, the accommodations provide sweeping panoramas of the Arabian Gulf and lavishly appointed with the signature St. Regis beds adorned with 300-threadcount Egyptian cotton linen and oversized marble bathrooms with deep-soaking tubs and separate rainforest showers complemented by Remede bath amenities. State-of-the-art technology, including 42-inch LCD televisions with Bose Wave radio, DVD player, iPod docking station and high-speed internet access complement a large executive desk, direct-dial telephones and electronic in-room safe in each guestroom and suite, where guests of the latter will also enjoy butler service that has been the brand’s hallmark since its founding in the early 20th century.

An impressive lineup of 10 restaurants, bars and lounges at the St. Regis Doha promise to reinvent the dining and social scene in Doha. British celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay lends his expertise to the eponymous Gordon Ramsay and Opal by Gordon Ramsay restaurants, while famed Chinese franchise Hakkasan opens its second Middle Eastern outpost at the hotel. Astor Grill and Vine serve up western favorites, with the daily catch offered fresh at Al Sultan Brahim and the Oyster Bay and Bar. Jazz lovers will delight at the soul tunes and easy drinks of Jazz at Lincoln Center Doha, while the Sarab Lounge and Vintage Bar provide alternate venues to catch up and socialize when the sun goes down.

Business travellers and meeting planners can experience the splendour and majesty of the hotel’s 5 meeting spaces covering 1,850 square meters, including the Grand Ballroom that can accommodate up to 1,500 guests. Leisure guests will relish the array of recreational and wellness facilities, comprising a pampering Remede Spa, Olympic-sized swimming pool, a private beach with cabanas and jacuzzis, tennis courts and a fitness center with personal trainers available to assist guests.

The St. Regis Doha joins the St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort in neighbouring Abu Dhabi as the brand’s second location in the Middle East. A third hotel, the St. Regis Abu Dhabi, will make its debut in August 2012, further cementing the brand’s presence in the region. Starwood is also developing the St. Regis Amman in Jordan, slated to open in 2015.
