Now Open: Conrad New York

Hilton Worldwide has opened the new all-suite Conrad New York yesterday in the Big Apple’s vibrant Battery Park City neighbourhood. Leading architects Monica Ponce de Leon, Marianne McKenna and members of the renowned Kohn Pederson Fox Associates created the stunning glass tower, with interiors by designers Jill Greaves, Peter Remedios, Herve Descottes of L’Observatoire and landscape architect Ken Smith.

Rising above the Hudson River waterfront, guests are welcomed into a soaring 15-storey, sunlit atrium highlighted by a dramatic blue and purple Sol LeWitt painting (entitled “Loopy Doopy”) above the registration desk. Paying tribute to the strong art heritage of the city, 2,000 selections of contemporary art curated by the Public Art Fund and Elizabeth Gould Vales can be found throughout the hotel’s guestrooms and public spaces.

Conrad New York’s accommodations are designed with luxury and comfort for the modern, independent traveller in-mind. The oversized suites incorporate a sophisticated decor of light wood and frosted glass sliding panels, while work and rest areas are separated for convenience. Each suite features luxury bedding, spacious bathroom with spa amenities, LCD television with iPod docking station, high-speed internet access, connectivity panel, chaise lounge with coffee table, minibar and espresso machine.

Promising gourmet dining from street-level to the rooftop for guests and New Yorkers, the hotel’s food & beverage outlets offer contemporary gastronomic creations with style and service. ATRIO marries old-world respect for fine food with a modern attitude, offering a classic Mediterranean menu overseen by Executive Chef Anthony Zamora using fresh herbs and vegetables from the green roof garden. Open seasonally in the summer, the Loopy Doopy rooftop bar will be one of the liveliest spots for drinks and dynamic conversations, accompanied by 180-degree panoramas of Ellis Island, the Hudson River, New York harbour and the iconic Statue of Liberty. Local restauranteur Danny Meyer and his Union Square Hospitality Group complements both outlets with 3 venues in the vincinity, Shake Shack, Blue Smoke and North End Grill.

More than 2,700 square meters of flexible event space combine to offer a centralized location for meetings and events that range from 10 to over 500 guests. Intimate gatherings to large scale galas can be hosted in an environment exuding thoughtful style, contemporary design and cutting edge technology, with support from the dedicated meetings team. For recreation and wellness, the 24-hour health and fitness center offers state-of-the-art equipment for travellers to workout, while Salvatore’s salon provides hair, nail, waxing and massages for guests before a formal event or night out in town.

Introduced in 1986 with a goal of offering a more personalized, stylish and connected kind of luxury in the world’s gateway cities and most sought-after resort destinations, Hilton Worldwide’s Conrad Hotels & Resorts brand continues to grow in new countries and regions. Following the Conrad New York, the brand will open hotels in Algarve, Beijing, Dalian, Dubai and Macau in 2012, as well as an iconic tower in the heart of China’s Suzhou Industrial Park.
