New World Hospitality Opens Pentahotel Beijing, To Expand Brand

New World Hospitality has opened the latest outpost of its select-service Pentahotels brand in Beijing. The Hong Kong-based hotel operator also revealed plans to grow the brand’s presence around the world, with significant expansion in Asia.

Pentahotel Beijing

Located in the Chinese capital’s increasingly trendy Dongcheng district, the 309-room Pentahotel Beijing builds on the chain’s re-imagined positioning as a hub of casual relaxation with a feel reminiscent of a boutique rather than a chain hotel. Shanghai’s Neri & Hu architectural design practice created a contemporary rustic decor that exudes comfort and warmth in the public areas, using hardwoods and earth tones, wrought-iron pendant lights, charcoal granite flooring, brick walls, deep leather club chairs and wool rugs.

The 307 loft-style guestrooms are intended to be sleek, clutter-free and warm, with high ceilings adding to the sense of space, while large windows allow an abundance of natural light. Featuring dark timber flooring with a white and deep blue colour palette, each is furnished with comfortable bedding, spacious bathroom, flatscreen television, high-speed internet access, work area, minibar and coffee-/tea-making facilities.

At the heart of the property is the Pentalounge, an all-in-one gathering place that seats 142 guests comfortably. Dedicated to socializing or simply relaxing, the space incorporates cafe dining with a delicatessen, noodle bar serving Chinese comfort food and a library, living room and games area.

4 meeting rooms on the Pentahotel Beijing’s 16th floor can be combined to accommodate up to 100 guests for small- to mid-scale meetings and events. A state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment suite ensures the technical needs of guests are met, while dedicated events staff are available to assist. For recreation, the hotel offers a fully-equipped gymnasium, while tour and ticketing services are available on-request.

China Focus with 2 More Hotels To Open

Originating in Europe, Pentahotels currently has 13 properties in Austria, Germany and the UK. In Asia, the chain operates hotels in Shanghai and Beijing. New World Hospitality is targeting urban centres, convention and exhibition complexes, airports and railway stations for future Pentahotel locations.

Further growth in China is planned with the 197-room Pentahotel Guiyang opening in 2013 and the 390-room Pentahotel Shenyang to follow a year later.
