Per AQUUM Launches Niyama

Luxury boutique resort operator Per AQUUM has opened its newest property in the Maldives, Niyama. Designed as an edgy, modern resort offering guests more than a romantic Maldivian escape, the property is situated over the idyllic Embudhufushi and Olhuveli islands in the southwestern Dhaalu Atoll.

Featuring 86 Studios and Pavilions, Niyama’s accommodation options exude modernity with Maldivian flair. Wood terraces afford views of crystal clear lagoons, while plush beds and elevated couches footsteps away from the private pools provide plenty of lounging opportunities. Open-air bathrooms incorporate rainforest showers and deep-soaking bathtubs, with entertainment delivered by 40-inch plasma televisions and Bose surround sound systems. Anchoring the island is the Beach Residence, a 3-bedroom haven of beachfront luxury and privacy.

Guests can dine and imbibe at Niyama’s array of epicurean restaurants and bars. Epicure kickstarts the culinary journey with international favorites all-day, complemented by The Deli’s gourmet snacks. Tribal’s campsite dining concept allows for close interaction of the talented chefs at work, while the exclusive overwater restaurant and lounge Edge is a chic venue to gather and indulge. Alternatively, guests can unwind over evening cocktails at Dune and Fahrenheit, before partying to the beats of international DJs at Subsix, the world’s first underwater club where glass walls overlook a spotlit sea.

A first in the Maldives, Lime Spa will be open 24-hours a day, offering treatments that utilise and infuse indigenous holistic components to create distinct experiences. His and Her beauty salons, a contemplation garden and juice bar are designed to heighten guests’ relaxation, while the Pump gymnasium presents state-of-the-art equipment. Water sports and PADI-certified dive courses are available at Float, with a fleet of Dhonis (traditional Maldivian boats) ready to provide short cruises to explore the surrounding reefs. A Marine Biology Lab is dedicated to educating guests about the local ecosystem, while Active offers a selection of games for those preferring to stay indoors, together with a selection of books and magazines at The Lair.

Niyama joins a list of exquisite resorts under the Per AQUUM collection, which includes the award-winning Huvafen Fushi in the Maldives. The company is developing new properties in Southeast Asia, Europe and the Middle East, where it recently opened the Desert Palm in Dubai.
