Second Scottish Hotel Indigo Opens

InterContinental Hotels Group’s boutique Hotel Indigo brand has opened its second Scottish property. Housed within a listed 18th-century building in Edinburgh’s city centre and in close proximity to the mainline Waverley railway station, the 60-room Hotel Indigo Edinburgh welcomed its first guests yesterday.

The interior design retains the original features of the heritage buildings, with decorative stairwells and cupolas complemented by images of St. Andrews Square, Calton Hill and the Georgian Terraces. Each guestroom offers oversized bedding with plush linens, spa-inspired bathroom with rainforest shower and luxury toiletries, flatscreen television, complimentary high-speed internet access, cordless telephones, minibar and coffee-/tea-making facilities.

Hotel Indigo Edinburgh’s stylish Turquoise Thistle restaurant and bar offers classic and modern Scottish dishes with a contemporary twist prepared with locally-sourced produce. A wide selection of brewed coffees, specialist teas and light bites are served in the afternoons before the space transforms to showcase the best of Scottish hospitality with a diverse menu of cocktails, elegant wines and traditional whiskeys.

For recreation, the hotel offers an onsite fitness room equipped with state-of-the-art strength and cardio training machines. While there are no meeting facilities available, business travellers can still utilize the assistance of the hotel’s sales and meetings staff for their event requirements.

Hotel Indigo Edinburgh joins the Hotel Indigo Glasgow in Scotland. First introduced in the UK in 2009 with a hotel in London’s Paddington area, Hotel Indigo now boasts 7 properties across the country in cities including Birmingham, Liverpool and Newcastle.
