Scoot On-track For Launch, Announces Fourth Destination

Singapore Airlines’ new long-haul, low-cost subsidiary Scoot is on-track to launch scheduled operations in June 2012, with preparations for its inaugural flight from Singapore to Sydney underway. The carrier has also announced Bangkok as its fourth destination, which it will serve daily using a 2-class Boeing 777-200ER.

 

2 Jets Delivered Ready for Sydney, Gold Coast

Following the reveal of its brand identity and fare classes, the airline has taken delivery of 2 aircraft which are in the process of being overhauled and refitted with new seating in a 3-4-3 layout offering a 31-inch seat pitch in Economy Class, while the ScootBiz premium seating will feature a 38-inch seat pitch and in-seat power supply. The aircraft will be rostered on Scoot’s Singapore – Sydney and Singapore – Gold Coast routes.

 

Flight OQ 002 will take off from Singapore daily at 0210 hrs from 4 June 2012, landing at Sydney’s Kingsford Smith International Airport at 1140 hrs. The aircraft turns around to operate the return flight OQ 001 at 1250 hrs, arriving back in Singapore at 1900 hrs.

 

Flight OQ 006 departs Singapore at 2225 hrs every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday from 12 June 2012, arriving in the Gold Coast at 0750 hrs the next morning. On the return leg, flight OQ 005 takes off at 0900 hrs in time for a 1900 hrs arrival back in Singapore.

 

Bangkok to Complement Long-Haul Services, Tianjin for Chinese Debut

Scoot will become the latest low-cost carrier to enter the lucrative Singapore – Bangkok route, competing with rivals Jetstar, Thai AirAsia and Tiger Airways. Beginning 5 July 2012, flight OQ 302 will depart Changi International Airport at 1725 hrs daily, arriving at Suvarnabhumi International Airport at 1845 hrs. The return flight, OQ 301, takes off from Bangkok at 2000 hrs for a 2315 hrs landing back in Singapore.

 

Tianjin, its first Chinese destination, will be served 4 times a week from 23 August 2012. Flight OQ 088 will take off from Singapore at 0130 hrs, landing at Tianjin Binhai International Airport at 0730 hrs on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. Returning as flight OQ 089 at 0900 hrs, the aircraft arrives back in Singapore at 1500 hrs.
