Now Open: Keraton At The Plaza

Starwood Hotels & Resorts’ Luxury Collection brand has bolstered its presence in Indonesia with the opening of a new 140-room hotel in Jakarta. Located on Jalan Thamrin at the heart of the capital city, Keraton at the Plaza is an iconic oasis of luxury occupying the 8th to 22nd floors of a contemporary steel and glass skyscraper, offering a modern ambience reflective of Jakarta’s rich indigeneous culture.

Inspired by the Javanese word for “palace”, each spacious guestroom and suite is a haven of luxury offering spectacular views of downtown Jakarta from floor-to-ceiling windows and open-plan design. Sleek decor from Singapore’s SCDA Architects and Burega Farnell celebrates Indonesia’s geographical and cultural diversity, using colour splashes, rich woods and intricate batik floral patterns, while elegant amenities include luxurious bedding, marble bathrooms with his and her vanity, 42-inch LCD televisions, iPod connectivity and complimentary high-speed internet access.

Guests can enjoy authentic Indonesian cuisine incorporating local flavours and ingredients at Bengawan, the specialty restaurant featuring natural elements such as lush green foliage and soothing water features in its decor. The Keraton Lounge’s traditional Indonesian high tea gives a local twist to its English counterpart with an array of indigeneous teas and delicacies, while evenings here are best spent over classic cocktails and signature Luxury Collection favorites.

An intimate urban retreat, Keraton at the Plaza’s Executive Boardroom is ideally-suited for high-level meetings or private gatherings. Recreation options include a semi-outdoor swimming pool and health club, while the Keraton Spa promises to be an oasis amidst the bustle of the city below when it opens later in the year. The concierge team will also organize day excursions for guests, including golfing at the prestigious Klub Golf Senayan or the championship-standard Pondok Indah Golf Course.

Keraton at the Plaza joins The Laguna Resort & Spa in Bali to double the Luxury Collection’s portfolio in Indonesia. The brand is set to add a third property in 2014, when it opens The Sarasvati in Bali’s Seminyak district.
