EVA Air’s New Royal Laurel Class Enters Service

Taipei-based carrier EVA Air has launched revenue service for its new Royal Laurel business class product. The luxurious, new-generation product was unveiled last month and made its debut on the airline’s flagship Taipei (Taoyuan) – New York (John F. Kennedy) route yesterday.

At the center of the new product is the new flatbed seat that promises greater comfort and privacy over EVA Air’s existing offering. 38 seats are configured in a reverse herringbone layout providing direct aisle access, 26 inches seat width and nearly 79 inches of personal space, with thoughtful features such as ample storage spaces and a convenient side table within easy reach. 15.4-inch touchscreen monitors, high-fidelity noise-canceling headphones, USB and iPod connectivity, in-seat power supply and a business software suite provide ample options for passengers to work or be entertained.

Complementing the seat are cozy pillows and comforters, while new luxury amenity kits feature Bulgari products including a green tea moisturizing lotion lightly scented with hints of orange, jasmine and rose. The inflight dining experience has been modeled after 5-star establishments on the ground, with top-quality menu selections paired with an excellent wine and champagne list, rounded off by gourmet cheeses and fresh fruits.

EVA Air is investing USD 100 million to refit its Boeing 777-300ER fleet with the new cabin. Flights with the Royal Laurel business class are now operating nonstop between Taipei and New York on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, with all New York services offering it by end-August 2012. The airline will also progressively roll-out the product on services to Los Angeles by end 2012, as well as Amsterdam, London (Heathrow), Paris (Charles de Gaulle), San Francisco and Toronto flights in 2013.
