Carnival Breeze Departs On Inaugural Cruise

Carnival Cruise Lines has welcomed the 130,000-GRT Carnival Breeze to its fleet of fun ships. Following a traditional handover ceremony at builder Fincantieri’s Monfalcone shipyard last week, the state-of-the-art cruise ship entered service yesterday sailing a 12-night Mediterranean voyage from Venice.

A sister to the year-old Carnival Magic, the ship boasts a host of exciting innovations. The staterooms and suites onboard feature a new cabin decor inspired by the Caribbean with the use of light-coloured walls, light wood furniture and blue accents to mimic the tropical ambiance. Dining venues include the new Bonsai Sushi (a first for the line) and Fat Jimmy’s C-Side BBQ, an outdoor venue reminiscent of a backyard barbecue, in addition to Guy’s Burger Joint (developed with Food Network personality Guy Fieri), the Mexican-themed BlueIguana Cantina, Cucina del Capitano and the RedFrog Pub.

Guests will also be able to experience an array of entertainment options during their cruise, with Carnival Breeze the first ship in the fleet to feature the line’s ‘Fun Ship 2.0’ enhancements. The new Thrill Theater is an immersive multi-dimensional special effects experience that allows guests to feel as if they are a part of the movie, while Hasbro The Game Show features larger-than-life adaptations of popular board games and Playlist Productions combines live performances with high-tech LED staging and special effects. Complementing the new venues are the much-loved, adults-only Serenity retreat, WaterWorks aqua park and SportsSquare recreation area on the top deck.

Carnival Breeze will spend her inaugural summer cruising the Mediterranean from Barcelona, calling at ports including Civitavecchia, Dubrovnik, Izmir, Livorno, Marseille, Messina, Monaco, Naples, Olbia, Palma de Mallorca, Piraeus and Venice. She then repositions to Miami following a 15-night transatlantic voyage to offer year-round, alternating 6- and 8-night itineraries.
