Accor Acquires Grupo Posadas’ South American Portfolio

Accor has boosted its presence in South America, where the French hospitality group announced the acquisition of 15 hotels from Mexican hotel company Grupo Posadas today. Included in the transaction is a secured pipeline of 14 properties under management contract, which translates to greater accommodation options for members of its Le Club Accorhotels loyalty programme.

Situated in the continent’s key cities of Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Santiago and Sao Paulo, the portfolio gathers high-quality hotels to reinforce its existing hotels and resorts. Amongst the new additions is the luxury Caesar Park Rio de Janeiro Ipanema, which enjoys a privileged location steps away from Brazil’s most charming beach.

Grupo Posadas’ Caesar Park and Caesar Business brands will also come under Accor’s umbrella. The 2 highly-recognizable regional icons will complement its globally-renowned Mercure, Novotel, Pullman and Sofitel brands.

With the acquisition, the Paris-headquartered group consolidates its presence in the region, placing it in a strong position to capitalize on strong demand for next year’s FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. Accor’s combined portfolio will offer more than 200 hotels and 34,000 guestrooms in one of the world’s fastest growing regions.
