SAS To Add San Francisco Flights, Boost New York Service

SAS Scandinavian Airlines will boost its presence in North America next year. The Star Alliance member has revealed plans to connect San Francisco and its Copenhagen base with nonstop flights, as well as increase frequency on its Copenhagen – New York (Newark) route.


Copenhagen – San Francisco

Beginning 8 April 2013, flight SK 935 will initially operate 6 times a week, departing Copenhagen at 1225 hrs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, arriving in San Francisco at 1445 hrs. The return service, SK 936, takes off from San Francisco International Airport at 1735 hrs for a 1315 hrs arrival back at Kastrup International Airport the next day.


3 Additional Copenhagen -New York (Newark)

The carrier is also reintroducing its evening flight from Copenhagen to New York. Flight SK 901 will operate 3 times a week every Monday, Thursday and Friday from 1 April 2013, departing Copenhagen at 1825 hrs for a 2050 hrs arrival in New York. The aircraft returns as flight SK 902, taking off from Newark Liberty International Airport at 2330 hrs and landing in Kastrup International Airport the following afternoon at 1315 hrs.


A 3-class Airbus A340-300 will be utilized to operate both flights, offering 245 seats. SAS becomes the only airline to offer a nonstop service between San Francisco and northern Europe, complementing its existing services to Chicago, New York and Washington DC from Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm.
