Revamped Hospitality Program Onboard Hawaiian Airlines

Travellers flying Hawaiian Airlines can now enjoy a more comprehensive island experience onboard with the relaunched ‘Mea Ho’okipa Service’ hospitality program. Featuring Hawaiian products, the service was reintroduced on 1August 2012 and is available exclusively on 11 routes connecting key US gateway cities with the airline’s Honolulu base.

Complimentary meals offered in the spirit of the islanders’ hospitality have been enhanced with new menus designed by Executive Chef Chai Chaowasaree. The dishes, including “Hawaiian Sweetbread with Cream Cheese and Guava Jelly”, “Tanioka’s Dried Mango, Papaya and Pineapple slices and a Macadamia Nut cookie”, “Ginger Chili or Teriyaki Chicken with Steamed Rice and Savory Vegetables” and “Kona Coffee Cake with Dark Roasted Coffee Bean”, showcase Hawaiian flavours. A glass of red or white wine specially selected by Master Sommelier Chuck Furuya complements the meals, while passengers will be served an island-style snack with Hawaiian’s new signature cocktail prepared using Koloa Rum prior to landing.

A selection of premium meals are also available for purchase in the Main Cabin. The complete meals feature dishes such as “Kalua Pork Sandwich”, “Island-Style Chicken”, “Prawns with Cold Noodles” and “Chinese Chicken Salad”, served with “Maui-Style Potato Chips” and Hawaiian Spring bottled water together with a complimentary glass of wine. New onboard is the Pau Hana Snack Bar, where indigenous light bites like spam musubi and ramen noodles together with fresh flower lei and branded gift items can be purchased.

On the service front, Hawaiian Airlines has re-orchestrated its inflight service to allow more interaction between the cabin crew and passengers. Its ‘Ho’okipa Desk’ in the departure lounges allows passengers to pre-order inflight amenities, get destination tips or learn more about their flight experience.

Now in its 83rd year of continuous service, Hawaiian Airlines offers nonstop service to Hawaii from mainland USA, together with flights from American Samoa, Australia, Japan, the Philippines and South Korea. The airline will add services to Auckland, Brisbane and Sapporo by mid-March 2013, spreading its reach in the Asia-Pacific region.
