Now Open: Fairmont Jaipur

Luxury Canadian hotel group Fairmont Hotels & Resorts marked its entry into India today with the opening of the highly-anticipated Fairmont Jaipur. Created from the ground up to pay tribute to the city’s glorious history and heritage, the 255-room hotel is a sensitive reimagining of the traditional Mughal palace.

The meticulously-designed guestrooms and suites feature timber doors, private foyers and vaulted ceilings to showcase the rich heritage of Rajasthan. Guests enjoy the best of old and new, with modern conveniences including plush bedding, deep-soaking bathtubs, 40-inch plasma televisions and wireless high-speed internet access available, while beautiful vistas of the scenic Arvali Hills and manicured grounds await outside the expansive windows.

Known for their lavish feasts, the Mughals’ legacy continues at the Fairmont Jaipur’s eclectic collection of restaurants and bars. Zarin, the hotel’s Indian specialty restaurant, offers a menu that highlights the reach of the Mughal Empire with live local entertainment to complete the regal dining experience, while all-day dining restaurant Zoya has 5 distinct seating areas in which to enjoy international specialties. The fine art of tea tasting is appreciated at Anjum, the hotel’s tea lounge serving single origin first flush leaf teas including the quintessential “Adrak Wali Cha” ginger-infused tea. Whiskey lovers will find a splendid collection at Aza, a regency-style library bar that complements the rich, masculine feel of the artistically-decorated Cigar Divan.

Business travellers and meeting planners have a 5,500-square meter conference centre at their disposal. The largest facility of its kind in the area, it offers 5 well-equipped meeting rooms and a sophisticated screening room. When business is settled, Fairmont’s Willow Stream Spa will provide the ultimate in rejuvenation and relaxation with guests also enjoying the use of the swimming pool, sauna, steam room and whirlpool. Beyond the property, the concierge can arrange for a tour of the local historical landmarks or a game of elephant polo once exclusive to royalty.

With the Fairmont Jaipur, the group adds another jewel to its storied collection of luxury and heritage properties around the world, including Shanghai’s Fairmont Peace Hotel, London’s The Savoy and The Plaza in New York. Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is gearing up to open its next property in Manila later this year, which will boost its worldwide portfolio to 68 properties.
