SWISS Returning To Singapore With Nonstop Flight

Swiss International Airlines has announced it will return to Singapore in May 2013, 4 years after it terminated services operated via Bangkok after 40 years of service. The new flight will be a welcome addition to travellers flying between Asia and Europe, complementing fellow Star Alliance member Singapore Airlines’ Airbus A380 service.

The carrier will operate a daily nonstop flight from Zurich. Flight LX 178 will depart Zurich at 2245 hrs, arriving in Singapore at 1710 hrs the next day. The return flight, LX 179, takes off from Changi International Airport at 2305 hrs, landing back at Zurich International Airport at 0610 hrs the following morning. Passengers will benefit from strong Star Alliance hubs and the flight times allow ample connectivity options on both ends to regional services.

SWISS will operate a 3-class Airbus A340-300 on the route, configured with 8 First, 47 Business and 172 Economy Class seats. In the premium classes, passengers enjoy the comfort of a full-flat bed and direct-aisle access, while Economy Class passengers will benefit from slimline seating offering improved legroom and lumbar support.

Singapore becomes SWISS’ 9th destination in Asia, after Bangkok, Beijing, Delhi, Dubai, Hong Kong, Mumbai, Shanghai and Tokyo.
