New Beijing Openings From Four Seasons, Swire Hotels

China’s hotel boom continues with the opening of 2 highly-anticipated properties in Beijing this week. Travellers to the Chinese capital now benefit from new hotels by luxury operator Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts and Hong Kong’s Swire Hotels.

Four Seasons Beijing

Located in Beijing’s fast growing Chaoyang District, the new Four Seasons Beijing heralds the Canadian hotel group’s arrival to the Chinese capital city. Easily accessible to both the international airport and the Great Wall, the hotel draws on principles of traditional Chinese architecture combining traditional themes in complete harmony with contemporary tastes for gracious simplicity and elegance.

The main entrance impresses with its wide façade reminiscent of the city’s Imperial Palaces, while the lobby welcomes with energizing colours, textures and familiar motifs, such as a hint of a dragon’s image in the carpet bringing good fortune to all who enter and ceiling panels in gold leaf and yellow, a distinctive Imperial colour.

Surrounding a sky-lit atrium, the 313 well-appointed guestrooms offer sanctuaries for business and leisure travellers amidst the hustle and bustle of the city. Each accommodation includes a generous living area for relaxing or doing business, with the signature Four Seasons bed and marble bathroom offering a comfortable and rejuvenating rest. A flatscreen television, iPod docking station and high-speed internet access provide entertainment and connectivity, while the refrigerated mini bar and espresso machine present convenience for guests.

Mouthwatering culinary creations can be savoured at the hotel’s 2 signature restaurants and 3 lounges. Fine Chinese cuisine is presented in an elegant and enticing way at Cai Yi Xuan, which features 8 private dining rooms including 1 offering an exclusive chef’s table. Mio is a welcoming Italian restaurant offering southern Italian cooking skilfully prepared at its 2 open kitchens and an authentic pizza oven. The Opus Lounge is a casual all-day dining venue to enjoy a relaxing afternoon. Alternatively, the adjacent Opus Bar is ideal for informal meetings or catch-ups over contemporary cocktail creations, while the Tea Garden at the base of the soaring atrium provides a tranquil oasis to enjoy a selection of loose leaf teas.

3,252 square meters of flexible event space epitomize elegance and are equipped with the latest conferencing, lighting and audio-visual technology. A 24-hour multi-lingual concierge provides round-the-clock business support, while the Four Seasons Beijing’s spa offers a welcoming respite from the demands of modern urban life. Other recreational facilities include a 117-square meter Health Club incorporating a pristine swimming pool and whirlpool bathed in natural light, as well as a dedicated exercise room.

EAST Beijing

Following on the success of The Opposite House, Swire Hotels brings its down-to-earth, yet fun EAST brand to Beijing with the opening of EAST Beijing within the new INDIGO mixed-development in Chaoyang District. The hotel is a 15-minute drive from Capital International Airport, business and embassy districts.

369 guestrooms and suites are designed for work and relaxation. Ranging in size from 30 to 70 square meters, views of the Beijing skyline or the nearby 17-hectare open park manifest outside the floor-to-ceiling windows which bathe each accommodation in natural light. Chic amenities, including hardwood flooring, luxury King-sized or twin bedding, spacious bathroom with walk-in rainforest shower, workstation and complimentary coffee and tea, offer convenience to the urban traveller, while a comprehensive entertainment and communications suite comprising a flatscreen television, iPod docking station and complimentary high-speed internet access allow guests to remain connected while on the road.

Food and beverage options include the bustling cafe Feast serving an international menu throughout the day, while Hagaki presents modern Japanese cuisine. The bold, new bar, lounge and music venue Xian is inspired by the industrial architecture of Beijing’s 798 Art Zone, offering a dynamic social space where guests can enjoy live music entertainment, sports with a cold beer, relax with a single malt at the welcoming whiskey bar, or simply unwind at the laid-back lounge.

The unique Domain space is a blend of cafe, business centre and lounge, with computers, iPads and workstations accompanied by drinks and light meals for guests to work or hang out when in need of a change of space from the guestroom. A boardroom and well-equipped meeting room provides the requisite privacy when necessary, while the video wall showcases the work of well-known and up-and-coming artists for some visual stimulation for the mind.

Beast is EAST Beijing’s recreation space. Situated on level 4 of the hotel, the fitness centre features LifeFitness equipment and a heated indoor swimming pool. A second, outdoor plunge pool is suited for days when rest is the best cure, accompanied by views of the sprawling metropolis.

EAST Beijing becomes the second property under the brand, following sister hotel EAST Hong Kong. With a second brand in operation, Swire Hotels is steadily building its presence in China, supplementing its operations in its native Hong Kong and the UK under its Chapter Hotels brand.
