Now Open: Shangri-La Toronto

Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts extends its presence in North America with the opening of its newest property in Toronto. Residing within the first 17 floors of a gleaming 66-storey skyscraper on University Avenue, the 202-room Shangri-La Toronto is ideally-sited at the crossroads of the city’s business and entertainment districts.

The guestrooms and suites are amongst the largest in the city at 45 to 205 square meters, offering views of downtown Toronto from expansive floor-to-ceiling windows. Each accommodation features elegant Asian-inspired decor and furnished with top-quality amenities including luxury bedding, marble bathroom with separate deep-soaking tub and rainforest shower, 46-inch LCD television with iPod docking station, complimentary high-speed internet access, dual-line telephone, large workdesk, electronic in-room safe, minibar and Nespresso coffee machine.

Shangri-La Toronto’s signature restaurant, Bosk, brings to life fine ingredients sourced from around the world with old-world cooking styles from chef Jean Paul Lourdes, who honed his craft at 2- and 3-Michelin starred establishments in France and Japan. The 90-seat Lobby Lounge, where natural light streams through 2-storey windows highlighting the large paintings, sculptures and a handcrafted Italian Fazioli piano, is a destination in itself for the afternoon tea featuring 68 different teas from the tea menu. When the sun sets, The Bar comes alive with its intimate setting providing an ideal locale to celebrate the classic cocktails from the 1930s, fine wines and premium spirits.

Business travellers and meeting planners have more than 1,359 square meters of event space, spread across 8 venues in 4 distinct areas, at their disposal. Named after prominent Toronto destinations, each is outfitted with the latest audio-visual and conferencing technology with the largest space, the Queen’s Park Ballroom, incorporating an outdoor garden terrace. After a day of business, guests can retreat to the Miraj Hammam Spa for pampering treatments inspired by the ancient rituals of the Middle East and the vineyards of Bordeaux, presented in partnership with Caudalie of Paris. Alternatively, the 828-square meter health and fitness facility with its TechnoGym equipment, private studio, 20-meter long saltwater swimming pool, infra-red sauna and jacuzzi lets guests enjoy hearty workouts throughout the day.

The Shangri-La Toronto joins the Shangri-La Vancouver in Canada, doubling the brand’s presence in North America.
