Banyan Tree Opens First Hotel In Shanghai

Luxury hotel and spa operator Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts has opened its latest urban retreat in the bustling Chinese commercial capital of Shanghai. Located in the northern section of the city’s iconic Bund, the new Banyan Tree Shanghai On The Bund enjoys commanding views of the Huangpu River, the historic promenade and the skyscrapers of the Lujiazui financial district.

Part of the elegant Above The Bund Urban Complex Project, the resort’s 130 guestrooms and suites are aesthetically designed to feature elements reflecting its natural surroundings. Lavish interiors of wood, neutral fabrics and colours create a modern feel in each accommodation, with stylish furnishings and amenities including a King-sized bed, marble-tiled open bathroom, LCD television with iPod docking station, audio system and multimedia panel, complimentary high-speed internet access, minibar and Nespresso coffee machine. Discerning guests staying in the top-of-the-range Banyan Suite will enjoy the ultimate luxury of their own private pool and sundeck.

An array of restaurants onsite offer new options for locals and guests alike. Leading the selection is Oceans, featuring a mix of local specialties, grills and signature dishes. The elegant and stately Ming Yuan serves authentic Cantonese cuisine and innovative creations to impress, while the high-end Tai Hei delivers fresh and exquisitely sculpted sushi and sashimi. The Banyan Lounge’s relaxed atmosphere makes it ideal for socializing and indulging in afternoon tea, vintage wines or aged whiskies and STARS promises to be the next place to be seen when it opens with fiery sunset views of Pudong and Puxi.

A sanctuary in the form of the Banyan Tree Spa awaits guests at the Banyan Tree Shanghai On The Bund. Drawing on time honoured Asian spa traditions, the space blends romance and serenity with exotic sensuality. The wellness offerings also include an indoor swimming pool and 3 relaxation pools, together with a state-of-the-art fitness centre. Business travellers and convention guests can utilize the 4 meeting rooms that can be configured to accommodate groups of up to 90 guests.

Banyan Tree Shanghai On The Bund joins the group’s existing resorts in Hangzhou, Lijiang, Macau, Ringha and Sanya in China. The Singapore-based operator is also in the midst of developing another urban resort in the bustling port city of Tianjin, scheduled to open later this year.
