Silver Cloud Completes Dry Dock Refurbishment

Silversea Cruises has announced the completion of a major dry dock refurbishment and return to service for its luxury liner Silver Cloud. The 296-guest vessel was recently at Italian shipbuilders Fincantieri’s Palermo shipyard for stem-to-stern work overseen by renowned architect Giacomo Mortola.

With the objective to revitalize her interiors, the ship’s suites received new decor and furnishings. Silversea has replaced the bedding with custom-made mattresses and plush Pratesi sheets, while the bathrooms are enhanced with new flooring, marble appointments and a bath/shower combination or walk-in rainforest shower. (In addition, the Owner’s and Grand Suites receive a modern wet room configuration with separate bathtub and shower). Complementing these changes, the furniture in all suites will be reupholstered and the carpets replaced.

Synonymous with gourmet dining, Silver Cloud’s restaurants and bars have been madeover to present a new experience for guests. The only Relais & Chateaux restaurant at sea, Le Champagne, has been completely transformed with an upgraded entrance, backlit wine displays, redesigned seating layout and new wood flooring, fabrics and window treatments, while La Terrazza’s updated interior features more tables for 2 and a remodeled buffet area. The Restaurant gains re-upholstered chairs, treated windows and reconditioned hardwood flooring and Silversea’s The Grill dining concept will now feature onboard Silver Cloud with the expansion of the former pool bar and grill area.

Public spaces onboard have been fitted with stylish new carpets, wall treatments and artwork. A renewed lobby in warm, soothing earth tones sets the look and feel for the rest of the ship, contrasted only by the cooler shades of teal at The Bar. Outside, new synthetic turf and deck furniture present a refreshed jogging track and pool deck, with newly polished teak decking and woodwork keeping things fresh.

Silver Cloud’s return to service will see her operate a 12-day transatlantic crossing from Las Palmas in the Canary Islands to Bridgetown, Barbados. She then spends the winter sailing South America before returning to Europe in April 2013.
