Now Open: Dorado Beach, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company has launched the latest addition to its exclusive Ritz-Carlton Reserve collection in the Americas. Located on the former Laurance Rockefeller estate, Dorado Beach offers one of the best beachfront escapes in the Caribbean with its palm-fringed beaches, warm ocean water and lush forests.

100 guestrooms and 14 suites enjoy direct access to the beach and are luxuriously furnished with features including outdoor shower gardens, infinity-edged pools and private cabanas. For the ultimate luxury experience, the resort’s original plantation hacienda Su Casa boasts 4 spacious bedrooms, an elegantly-appointed living and dining area, outdoor veranda and lush gardens. Originally erected in the 1920s, the villa has been painstakingly restored to preserve its legendary heritage and serene beauty.

Internationally-acclaimed chef Jose Andres headlines the culinary offerings at Dorado Beach with Mi Casa, offering modern Caribbean fusion dining inspired by Puerto Rico’s local produce. A unique, open-air experience awaits guests at the Encanto Beach Club Bar & Grill, while La Cocina Gourmet is perfect for enjoying Puerto Rican coffees, homemade gelatos and local favorites. Rounding up the quartet is the Positivo Sand Bar situated parallel to the ocean and offering al fresco dining and refreshing cocktails.

Dorado Beach’s Spa Botanico is a natural haven pairing local ingredients with time-honoured techniques to present soothing, rejuvenating treatments for guests. Tucked away amid lush flora, the 5-acre space boasts distinctive facilities, warm and cold pools, waterfall showers, glass-walled pavilions and magnificent open-air treehouses for a truly tropical experience. Guests may also indulge in a variety of one-of-a-kind experiences, including golfing on 3 spectacular, 18-hole championship courses designed by renowned golf architect Robert Trent Jones Sr, eco adventures with Jean-Michel Costeau’s “Ambassador of the Environment” program, the historic Rockefeller Nature Trail, watersports at Barlovento and the unspoilt lagoons and reefs of this tropical paradise.

With the opening of Dorado Beach, Ritz-Carlton Reserve now offers 2 locations in Asia and Central America. The brand debuted in late-2009 with the 54-villa Phulay Bay in Phuket and is set to expand further with new reserves under development in Los Cabos, Muscat, Tamuda Bay and West Caicos.
